Looking after your baby in the sun

Today is officially the hottest day of the year at 36 degrees here in the South. Keep your baby cool and hydrated with these tips from NHS Livewell:

  • Keep your baby out of the sun during the hottest part of the day (11am to 3pm)
  • Wear loose fitting clothing and keep your baby well covered
  • Make sure you put plenty of sun cream on your baby and re-apply after a few hours
  • Keep your baby well hydrated with water
  • If you’re a breast feeding mummy, then your milk should be sufficient but a top up of cool boiled water is also fine providing your baby is over 6 months
  • Oh and don’t forget to stay well hydrated yourself, even more so if you’re a breast feeding mummy
